Job summary

WSP in Lincolnshire is seeking an experienced highways engineer to join a collaborative team delivering diverse highway projects for a Lincolnshire County Council client. You will lead design work, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor colleagues in a busy regional setting.

The role emphasises delivery on time and within budget, adherence to H&S standards and CDM requirements, and engaging with clients and stakeholders across the UK.

Qualifications

  • Experience in undertaking feasibility studies, design, maintenance and supervision of highways projects.
  • Experience leading design, management and inspection of Highway Structures maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 duties.
  • Excellent working knowledge of DMRB standards and Highway Works specifications.
  • Progress towards IEng status is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the design process, guiding teams to deliver on programme and mentor others.
  • Manage projects and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs.
  • Manage resources (including some remote) to meet workload.
  • Deliver compliant designs on time and within budget; meet H&S/QA reviews.
  • Develop relationships with LCC and WSP teams to access additional resources.
  • Agree fees and manage the commercial position on projects.
  • Attend site to gather information and supervise schemes.

About Your Role…

You will be part of our highly collaborative team in Lincolnshire. As part of our Lincoln highways design team, comprising a wide network of Highway Engineers both locally and across the UK, you will deliver interesting Highway projects for our Lincolnshire County Council Client. Responsibilities
  • Own and lead the design process, encouraging your and wider teams to deliver the right solutions to the agreed programme and support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
  • Manage projects to ensure coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs.
  • Manage resources effectively (including some remote resource) and efficiently to meet fluctuating workloads.
  • Work with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time and within budget and meeting H&S, CDM, QA and technical review requirements.
  • Develop relationships with other LCC and WSP teams to utilise additional resources as required.
  • Agree fees and managing the commercial position on projects.
  • Attend site to gather information and supervise schemes.

We'd love to hear from you if you have...
  • Experience in undertaking feasibility studies, design, maintenance, and supervision of highways related projects.
  • Experience of leading the design, management and inspection of Highway Structures maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works.
  • Progress towards achieving IEng status is highly regarded.
  • At this stage we would be keen to hear from both senior engineers and intermediate level highways engineers due to a healthy workload in the region.
