Having won a 20-year contract to provide highways design services across East Anglia, my client is looking for a Senior Highway Engineer to join their team and help deliver a wide range of road safety, active travel, and other highway-related projects.

Our client, a leading Design Consultancy in the Highways sector, is seeking a Senior Highways Design Engineer in Ipswich. In this role, you will be responsible for producing design solutions to maintain and improve highway infrastructure across Suffolk. You will oversee the coordination of design deliverables, ensure compliance with quality standards and legal requirements, and manage multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead coordination of design deliverables to achieve project outcomes
- Deliver projects within agreed time, cost, and quality expectations
- Plan resources and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and processes
- Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
- Manage staff and people, including training, development, and performance reviews
- Collaborate with clients to develop project objectives
- Develop and maintain client relationships
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Chartered Engineer or experienced Engineer working towards Chartered status (minimum 10 years relevant experience)
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary projects to meet program, cost, and quality targets
- Extensive design and construction experience in highways, including review of design software outputs
- Commercial awareness in project delivery
- Knowledge of Local Authority design standards and contracts
- Experience mentoring staff
- Design resource planning and program management skills
- Experience managing Health & Safety in design and construction
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages
- Experience with NEC contracts and contract administration
- UK/EEC driving license
