We seek an experienced senior highway engineer to join us in Chelmsford or Cambridge (minimum 2 days/week in office).

Responsibilities:

• Prepare designs and specifications per DMRB standards.
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, Civil3D (as applicable).
• Manage work packages, schemes, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support project planning and programming.
• Contribute to project pricing, proposals, and cost estimates.
• Check, certify, and approve designs and reports.
• Lead and coordinate graduate engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff for professional development.
• Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, and contract documents.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Innovate to achieve best value.
• Provide technical leadership and support.

Candidate profile:

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering; Chartered or Incorporated Engineer preferred.
• Significant highway design experience per DMRB standards.
• Understanding of project delivery and commercial aspects.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and procedures, including departures.
• Experience with NEC contracts and project management is advantageous.
