Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Group Leader – Highway Delivery to lead high‑level highway operations and technical services across the borough. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management of teams, budgets and safety-critical delivery.

You will steer service planning, risk management and winter service arrangements, while fostering partnerships with stakeholders and regional bodies to maintain a safe, efficient and resilient highway network for Barnsley residents

• Senior-level experience managing large operational services and complex projects.
• Proven leadership, judgement and stakeholder influence.
• Experience in safety-critical environments and public sector.
