Senior HGV Technician / Deputy Fleet Engineer – Middlewich – Permanent Position

Work Schedule and Compensation

1. Monday – Friday Days, occasional Saturdays as required
2. 45 hours per week + overtime available
3. £25ph + Company Van

Company Overview

An established specialist logistics and transport provider is seeking an experienced Senior HGV Technician to work closely with the fleet engineer. The role involves working with complex and bespoke equipment, including trucks and trailers, and participating in modifications and development to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

1. Plan workshop activities and capacity with the Maintenance desk for up to 6 weeks ahead
2. Supervise and collaborate with a team of 3 technicians at the workshop
3. Conduct pre-work inspections, create worksheets, and coordinate major works with the fleet engineer
4. Perform post-work inspections and quality checks, and coordinate rectifications
5. Report progress daily to the maintenance team
6. Supervise parts inventory
7. Conduct quality inspections for third-party providers as directed
8. Cover for the Fleet Engineer during absences or holidays
9. Participate in weekly meetings to discuss issues and maintenance plans

Candidate Requirements

1. Over 10 years of experience as a senior HGV technician with team management skills
2. Valid C+E driving licence
3. NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications
4. IRTE membership and Transport CPC are advantageous
5. Excellent communication skills
6. High attention to detail and quality standards
7. Proactive attitude with problem-solving skills
8. Knowledge of relevant laws and compliance requirements
