Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Senior Conservation Officer with a passion for preserving the historic built environment. This full-time role involves providing expert advice on heritage-related matters, alongside managing development proposals affecting conservation areas.

Candidates should hold a relevant qualification and ideally be a member of IHBC. With a hybrid working model, you will balance office work with site visits to ensure effective conservation management across the borough.

Qualifications

• Appropriate qualification in Building Conservation, Town and Country Planning or a related discipline.
• Good communication skills (written and spoken) and ability to respond confidently.
• Ability to carry out site visits independently.

Responsibilities

• Protect and conserve the historic built environment.
• Provide advice on listed buildings and heritage related planning.
• Undertake site visits and prepare policy guidance.
