Overview

Newham University Hospital is looking to recruit a Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work Plashet Ward at Newham University Hospital. Please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role. Following the recent update on UK immigration policy for Health and Care Visa or Skilled Worker Visa holders, please check eligibility before applying for this post. This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.

Responsibilities
  • Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
  • Assisting with personal care and mobility
  • Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs
  • Undertaking a limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)
  • Simple wound dressings
  • Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of our patients
  • The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse
  • The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority
