Senior Healthcare Science Assistant - Cardiac Devices
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Senior Healthcare Science Assistant. The Cardiac Device Team at Rotherham consists of a specialist team of Clinical Scientists who perform and support Pacemaker and complex cardiac device implants and follow ups. As a Senior Healthcare Science Assistant within this team you will be responsible for supporting the cardiac device team with the workflow within the cardiac device service. This will include working as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering a range of designated clinical tasks/duties, working within agreed policy and procedures.
Key tasks include basic clinical observations (heart rate, blood pressure, height, weight) and performing 12 Lead Electrocardiograms (ECG) as well as assisting in more complex cardiac procedures under the supervising physiologist (e.g. setting up home monitors, supporting domiciliary visits, six-minute walk tests, clinical record keeping, monitoring clinical stock). Venepuncture/cannulation applies where there is sufficient opportunity to maintain this skill. You may also assist in other areas of cardiology under supervision as appropriate.
