Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Network Specialist to join the HSCP eHealth team. You will work in a small, expert IT support group providing high-level networking services across the HSCP data network and related systems.

The successful candidate will manage and upgrade network hardware, including switches, firewalls, wireless, and telephony across hospitals, GP practices and health sites. Regular travel across the HSCP and NHS Highland is required, with some unsocial hours.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree/HND or equivalent level and have at least five years experience in a similar role.
• Experience working within large corporate network environments is essential.
• Strong understanding of large scale network design, network protocols, cyber security controls, and infrastructure hardware.
• Role involves regular travel across the HSCP and NHS Highland areas and periods of unsocial hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage and upgrade NHS Highland's network hardware (switches, firewalls, wireless, telephony).
• Install and de-commission network components across hospitals, practices and health sites.
• Firewall management and network infrastructure security oversight.
