Job summary

The Senior Healthcare Assistant/Support Worker (Band 3) will be an integral member of the ward team, under close supervision of a registered practitioner, delivering personal and clinical care. You will perform clinical observations and follow SOPs to support safe, compassionate patient care.

Protecting privacy and dignity, you will help colleagues, participate in emergencies, monitor intake and mobility, and ensure effective infection control while promoting patient comfort and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Holds National Care Certificate or equivalent.
• Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and relatives with care and compassion.
• Report changes or concerns to the registered practitioner.
• Support the registered practitioner and ward team as needed.
• Initiate and participate in emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest).
• Assist with patient transfer within the ward, under delegation.
• Maintain infection prevention practices and patient privacy.
