Marie Curie is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to support a new service across South Liverpool. The role emphasizes outreach, building relationships, and helping individuals and families navigate the care landscape surrounding end-of-life needs.
You will work with Clinical Nurse Specialists and primary care teams to signpost services, follow up identified needs, and contribute to holistic assessment, care planning, and compassionate conversations around dying, death and bereavement.
This is not a traditional Healthcare Assistant role. There will be a strong focus on outreach, building relationships, supporting referrals and helping people and families navigate the care available to them. You will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, primary care colleagues and other health and community services across South Liverpool. You will follow up on identified needs, signpost people to appropriate services and help create a more joined-up experience for people and those important to them. You will also have opportunities to provide direct care, contribute to holistic assessment and care planning, and recognise and respond to changes in peoples needs. Within the scope of your role, you will contribute to symptom management, advance care planning and compassionate conversations around dying, death and bereavement.
We are looking for a compassionate and self-motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join a new Marie Curie service working across South Liverpool.
Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, theyre likely to die from. The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, almost one in three people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives. We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:
