Cornerstone Healthcare is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our award-winning team at South Africa Lodge. South Africa Lodge is a 99-bedded service providing high-quality care across 6 specialised units supporting residents with complex care needs, while ensuring a comfortable and safe living environment.

Our approach focuses on individualised care, considering the whole person and their unique challenges, rather than just the diagnosis. We are currently rated GOOD with CQC.

What do you need?

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in care within the UK (essential)
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, with the intention of completing Level 3 following probation (desirable)
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, residents, and their families
  • A caring and empathetic approach to residents and visitors
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)

What hours will you work?

Total average of 38.5 hours worked per week

What will you be doing?

  • Prioritising workload of the care team, seeking advice from the nurse in charge when necessary
  • Participate in meetings including staff meetings, case reviews, clinical reviews, as prescribed by the Nurse in charge
  • Observe resident progress against planned goals and report changes in residents’ condition or care needs to a registered nurse
  • Support all aspects of daily living including personal care, mealtimes, and social activities
  • Help residents to remain as independent as possible
  • Respect residents' rights to choice, privacy, and dignity at all times
