About the role

Balfour Beatty has been selected by Rolls-Royce as its construction partner to support the expansion of its Raynesway site in Derby. We are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join the team.

The Senior HSW Advisor will support the project by driving HSW performance and providing high-quality advice to meet and exceed operational requirements, supporting the Head of HSW and HSW Manager in achieving Zero Harm objectives. This is a full-time, site-based role.

Responsibilities
  1. Implement the Project Zero Harm strategy through visible leadership.
  2. Provide expert HSW technical advice, guidance, and support to project teams.
  3. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote zero harm.
  4. Develop and review risk-based Service Level Agreements with operational management.
  5. Conduct site inspections and produce reports via the Project Portal.
  6. Monitor health and safety risk management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  7. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring compliance with standards.
  8. Create and deliver project-specific HSW training materials.
  9. Coordinate with client and delivery partner HSW teams to communicate SMS effectively.
  10. Lead and implement project-wide HSW campaigns.
  11. Report on monthly HSW statistics, ensuring KPI compliance.
  12. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to reduce HSW risks through design.
  13. Innovate and improve work practices, promoting success stories.
  14. Mentor and support development of other HSW colleagues.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ, Degree, or equivalent (Level 6).
  • Working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S Regulatory Framework.
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture.
  • Experience in project planning, management, and budgeting.
  • Competence in incident investigation.
  • Ability to produce formal HSW reports.
  • Experience with complex construction or civils projects.
