Job description

I am working for an International Engineering Manufacturer who are looking for a Senior SHE Advisor based in their Glasgow factory. They are looking for an individual who will:

  1. Form part of their highly successful H&S team
  2. Be able to step up and cover for their manager in meetings as and when required.
  3. Have excellent communication skills – not looking for a person to rigidly police the H&S
  4. As well as investigation and identification, be able to provide H&S solutions.
  5. Coaching and engagement is important to them, so an individual who can build relationships is key to them (taking the team on a journey).
  6. Very customer focussed.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage SHE within their area(s) of responsibility.
  2. Conduct appropriate levels of SHE assurance activities in support of the effective deployment of the SHE management system, ensuring it continues to meet the requirements of ISO45001 and ISO14001.
  3. Supporting and coaching Line Leaders in the effective management and control of significant SHE risks within their area(s) of responsibility.
  4. Conduct comprehensive investigations of accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and lessons learnt to prevent reoccurrence.
  5. Promote continuous improvement through effective communication, coaching and mentoring of line leaders, employees, and contractors.
  6. Supporting onsite contractors in their applications of the company's SHE Policy & Strategy.

Your skills and experience:

Essential:

  1. NEBOSH Diploma/Degree or NVQ L6 qualification in H&S
  2. Experience of working in complex environments where strong collaboration, influencing and motivation skills are the key methods for implementing SHE improvements, comprehensive Knowledge of SHE Management Systems and assurance processes.
  3. Working knowledge of SHE Management Systems and assurance processes.

Their SHE Team:

As a Lead SHE Advisor, you will be ensuring the business complies with the company SHE Policy and all relevant SHE regulatory requirements. This will include working in cross-discipline teams across the site to deliver specified packages of work/improvement projects. The role will support Line Leaders in their deployment of the Safety, Health and Environmental policy, management systems and objectives for their area(s) of responsibility. The role may involve travel to other sites.
