We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to lead information and knowledge mobilisation to drive user engagement, implementation, embedding and spreading of digital pathways for new medicines within the Right Decision Service (RDS) platform. This is a key role within the Voluntary Scheme for Branded Medicines Pricing, Access and Growth (VPAG) programme, which is aimed at improving access to, and adoption of, clinically and cost-effective medicines. The Senior Health Information Scientist will lead and manage a programme of knowledge mobilisation and implementation support to embed digital pathways for new medicines within the RDS in frontline practice and medicines policy. Activities will include engagement and outreach with a wide range of clinical and policy stakeholders, training in use of RDS decision support tools, evaluating and promoting the benefits of digital pathways, and facilitating sharing of experience and expertise to extend uptake and maximise impact.

You will have sound knowledge and skills in facilitating digital delivery of healthcare evidence in a way that meets users’ needs and in facilitating use of evidence in practice. You will have strong skills in sourcing and summarising evidence and in stakeholder communication and engagement, including communication of complex information. You will demonstrate creativity and innovation in identifying new approaches to getting evidence into practice and will be an effective team worker with an ability to collaborate with other VPAG project colleagues.

You will hold a postgraduate Masters qualification or equivalent experience in a library, information or knowledge management-related discipline. You will demonstrate sound digital information skills and experience and have a track record in provision of health information and working with senior healthcare professionals.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s Evidence and Digital Directorate is a complex and wide-ranging directorate which develops and disseminates evidence-based advice for NHSScotland, such as clinical guidelines, health technology assessments and clinical standards, and also provides evidence development, research, health economics, knowledge and decision support for the other functions of the organisation and for external partners.
