Job overview

· The post holder will work as part of the Endoscopy team, ensuring an effectiveservicesprovidedwithintheEndoscopyUnitacrosstheTrust.

· ToassistwithmostoftheEndsocopy procedure.

· Tocarryoutassignedtaskinvolvingdirectcareinsupportofandsupervised by a qualified Nurse or othe health care professional.

· Toprovideaqualityservicetobothinpatientandoutpatientinanenvironment in which patients are treated as individuals with dignity and respect.

Main duties of the job

· WorkinginallEndoscopyProcedurerooms withsupport&trainingifrequired, including all aspects of role within the room.

· AssistinRecovery Rooms carrying out the enhanced Band 3 role.

· MovingtoanotherareaiftheneedsoftheTrustrequires this

· Workingoverallocatedtimeifthepatientiscompromisedandcannotbe discharged or moved to another area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

· ToworkaspartoftheTeamtoensurethatpatientsreceivedthehigh standards of care.

· TocommunicateeffectivelywithallthemembersoftheMultidisciplinary team

· Participateinstaff meetings

· Observepropertelephonecourtesy,communicatemessagesorqueriesina prompt manner & to the correct practitioner/person.

· Ensure that all patients are treated with respect and empathy at all times. Providethemwithsupportandbethepatients’ advocatethroughouttheirstay in the department.

ServiceDeliveryand Improvement

· Toacceptdelegatedresponsibilityforspecificactivities/areasfromtheSenior Nurse in Charge, recognizing and working within the limits of your competence.

· ToassistConsultantsandNurseEndoscopistsinOutpatientsandInpatients Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy Procedures:

§ Patient Observations during upper and lower endoscopy

§ Setting up Gold probe

§ Airway management during upper and lower endoscopy

§ Cold snare polypectomy

§ Setting up Argon

§ Second assistant ERCP.

· Helpinfacilitatingstudents,newmembersofstafftodeveloptheir competence through supervision, teaching and role modelling.

· Toprovide highqualityofcareto thepatientsinlinewith theTrustvaluesand in accordance with Professional regulations.

PeopleManagementand Development

· Thepostholderisrequiredtocompleteanappraisal processandworks towards meeting the identified development needs.

· ThepostholderisexpectedtodocumentproperlyontheEndoscopyCare Pathway, Bluespier and Careflow.

· Toachieveanddemonstrateagreedstandardsofpersonalandprofessional development within agreed timescale.

· Teachandfacilitatelearningforall NursingstudentsandnewHealthCare

Assistant in liaison with the University and theHealth Care assistant Programme.

· Assistinthemaneuveringandpositioningofpatientsandequipmentinthe theatre Rooms and Recovery.

· DemonstrategoodunderstandingoftheEndoscopyprocedureandthe consent process. Ensure that a valid consent is obtained prior to any Endoscopy Procedures.

· Identifypatients’individualdependencycareneedsandprovidesupportfor physical, psychological, and social requirements.

· Providepatients’emergencycareinallareasoftheEndoscopy department.

· EnsurethatanysafeguardingissuesareraisedappropriatelytoleadNurses to enable investigation in relation to vulnerable adults or children.

· Tomaintaincleardocumentationregardingpatientstreatments,careand future plans of care.

· EnsurethattheClinical Environmentreflectsahighstandardofcleanliness, be proactive in response to any issues raised in cleaning audits or patients environment inspections.

· Recognizeownlimitationandworkonlywithinthescopeofprofessional practice and competence.

· Contributetothecollectionandproperlabellingofall typesofspecimensin line with Trust protocols and Procedures.

· Work in an effective and organized manner demonstrating excellent time managementandorganizationalskillstoeffectivelydeliverperson-centered care

· Reportandshareinformationregardingthe patient’scondition,behaviour,and responsespre/during/post Endoscopy procedures.
