A thriving manufacturing and engineering organisation in the Newry area is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety and Quality Coordinator to join their team. This is a key role focused on promoting a safe working environment and ensuring quality standards are consistently met across operations.
Your new role
As Safety and Quality Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing health and safety policies, conducting training, and monitoring compliance with regulations. You will oversee quality control procedures, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure that safety and quality standards are upheld throughout the organisation. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, developing and communicating safety policies and emergency plans, delivering training (Manual Handling, Gantry, Abrasive Wheels, etc.), monitoring compliance, supervising safe working practices, promoting a positive safety culture, and leading by example. You will also train staff and inductions, allocate resources, ensure provision of safety equipment, and drive continuous improvement and corrective actions. Additionally, you will establish and maintain quality standards and objectives, implement quality control procedures, monitor performance, investigate non-conformities, resolve quality issues, promote a quality-first mindset, and identify opportunities for process and product improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you will have proven experience in a health and safety or quality coordination role, train-the-Trainer certification for Manual Handling, Gantry, Abrasive Wheels, strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practices, and First Aid certification (desirable). Excellent report writing and root cause analysis skills, along with strong organisational and communication abilities, are essential. A proactive, detail-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills is required.
