Job summary

EKFB is recruiting a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in Aylesbury. You’ll lead the SH&W effort for the Delivery Area, working with onsite teams and supply chain to monitor and improve safety performance.

The role requires NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent and Tech IOSH, with strong communication skills and UK driving license. Eligibility for CSCS card is also required. Competitive salary and benefits discussed on offer.

  • Demonstrable experience influencing SH&W culture and performance at operational level.
  • Must have a valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle
  • Must have valid CSCS card (White/White-Yellow/Black/Gold/Red Experienced).

Responsibilities

  • Drive all aspects of Safety, Health & Wellbeing for the assigned Delivery Area.
  • Promote and assist with Corporate & Local SH&W campaigns.
  • Foster relationships with onsite teams and supply chain to monitor SH&W Performance.
  • Undertake Site Safety Inspections and identify trends from inspections.
  • Advise SH&W Manager on audit/inspection findings and actions.
  • Report common trends to inform local campaigns and improve SHW performance.
  • Apply and communicate Business Management System content.
  • Ensure on-site activities meet and maintain BMS requirements.
  • Carry out internal audits and surveillance as required.
  • Promote a positive SH&W culture on site and engage with wellbeing initiatives.
  • Be on EKFB on-call rota and follow procedures.
  • Support central SH&W function as required.

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.

About The Role

All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects. EKFB is looking to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our team based in Aylesbury. You’ll join an established team of safety professionals led by the sections SHW Manager. Supporting the project to safely delivery our section of works for HS2.

The Primary Focus Of This Role Is To
  • Drive all aspects of Safety, Health & Wellbeing for the assigned Delivery Area.
  • Promote and assist with both Corporate & Local SH&W Campaigns.
  • Foster relationships with onsite operational teams and supply chain to monitor and drive SH&W Performance.
  • Undertake Site Safety Inspections for all activities and proactively seek trends or anomalies within the inspections.
  • Work with operational site teams to monitor and advise close out of audit/inspection findings, investigations and any other actions relating to the Delivery Area.
  • Advise the SH&W Manager of common trends, events or inspection findings for local site activities to inform local campaigns, initiatives and to improve SHW performance across the Delivery Area.
  • Apply and communicate the benefits of relevant content of the Business Management System.
  • Assure the BMS requirements for all onsite activities and local facilities are met and maintained.
  • Carry out internal audits and surveillance activities for both construction and non-construction activities, as required.
  • Drive a positive SH&W culture onsite and actively promote and engage with “Making the Right Choice” and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Appear on the EKFB “on call” Rota and follow the necessary “on call” procedures, as required.
  • Contribute to and support the central SH&W Function as required.
About You
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Holding, as a minimum, NEBOSH Certificate [or equivalent] qualification in occupational safety and health.
  • Holding Tech IOSH status or higher.
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of SH&W on the ground.
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing SH&W culture and performance at operational level.
