Job Description:

Amour Recruitment is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to work for a reputable company based in Portsmouth.

You will be responsible for overseeing and executing the build, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of infrastructure (compute, storage, network) in their and their clients' build labs, data centers, and office environments. The ideal candidate will lead by example, ensuring best practices in installations, patching, labeling, and asset tracking, while also proactively managing risks and team leadership. This position requires a strong technical background, operational discipline, and proven leadership skills.

You must pass BS7858:2012 and HMG SC vetting, have a minimum of 5 years UK residency, hold a clean driving license, and possess a current passport with the flexibility to travel.

Personal requirements:
  • Previous experience in data center operations or infrastructure engineering is essential
  • Strong understanding of compute, storage, network hardware, configurations, firmware, software, and data center best practices
  • Experience managing RAMS and risk assessments in critical environments
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards (Cat6/6a/OM3/OM4, fiber, etc.)
  • Familiarity with power and cooling systems, including PDU configurations and load balancing

Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900 - 1730, with the ability to work out of hours, including nights and weekends. Travel to client sites will be compensated.
