Job description

Xirgo Technologies offers a complete portfolio of proprietary supply chain monitoring and management technology to convert IoT data from information to insights — enabling the smartest telematics data analytics solutions.

About the role

  • As a Hardware Engineer, you will work with cross-functional development teams, focused on device hardware development for highly-engineered IoT devices. These devices incorporate multiple technologies such as cellular, low-power wireless, wired interfaces and battery management. The devices interact closely with our back-end cloud systems for device management and data flow, to create an end-to-end solution which solves our customers’ problems.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of hardware for new products, focusing on digital, analog and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Create high quality, reliable circuit designs using industry standard tools e.g. Altium.
  • Oversee the creation of PCB layouts, ensuring signal integrity, power integrity and manufacturability.
  • Conduct simulation and perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of prototypes to validate designs.
  • Lead the effort to validate hardware designs through debugging and interation, ensuring they meet performance, cost and quality targets.
  • Work closely with other engineers (firmware, mechanical, systems design) to ensure that hardware integrate seamlessly with overall product architecture.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, managing timelines and ensuring that deliverables meet design and functional requirements.
  • Produce detailed documentation for design specifications, test procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide support during manufacturing and after-product-launch phases, addressing hardware issues, conducting failure analysis, and implementing design improvements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in hardware development, including emerging technologies, components and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with technical procedures, documentation and manuals.
  • Determine feasibility from technical and economic perspectives.

Qualifications

  • Experience / Qualifications
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
  • Self-motivated and proactive in achieving goals
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware design, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Experience of developing analogue and digital circuits.
  • Experience of Schematic Capture.
  • Experience of simulation for electronic design.
  • Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
  • Extensive experience with hardware design tools e.g. Altium
  • Solid understanding of electronics components e.g. microcontrollers, power supplies
  • Strong understanding of hardware testing methodologies, including the use of oscilloscopes, and other lab equipment for debugging and validation. Experience with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testing (DFT).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring or managing a team of engineers
  • Experience in design of electronics for wireless communication -LTE, GNSS, BLE & Sub GHz
  • Experiences using Altium Designer, schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience in design of electronics for battery-powered devices.
  • Experience in electronics designer testing using National Instruments or similar tools.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team development environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and certifications e.g. RoHS
