Job overview

Abbey School is an Independent Special School for young people with autism aged 4-19 years, who may have additional learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge. The role focuses on delivering pupil-centred care and making a meaningful impact in supporting pupils with complex needs.

What you will do
  • Play a key role in providing tailored support to pupils with special educational needs throughout all aspects of the school day
  • Work with pupils both individually and in small groups, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning, delivering teaching, providing positive behaviour support and other focused interventions
  • Work as part of a class team, under the direction of the class teacher and trans-disciplinary colleagues, to deliver effective teaching, learning and behaviour support
  • Monitor and track progress, providing regular feedback as needed
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for
  • Experience of supporting children and young people with complex needs, or transferrable skills from similar fields
  • A strong level of resilience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs
