Job summary

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist in Haematology (Band 7) to lead the Haematology laboratory at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. The role is full‑time, permanent, and involves 24/7 duties including nights and weekends.

You will manage staff, resources and service development, with HCPC registration and an IBMS Haematology Specialist Portfolio as essential or highly desirable qualifications.

Qualifications

HCPC registration is required and eligible for Band 7 responsibilities.
IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology is preferred or required per JD.
Proven leadership and staff management experience within a haematology lab.

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day management of the Haematology laboratory and reporting line to the Chief BMS.
Train in all areas of Haematology including coagulation and blood film morphology.
Participate in CPP 24/7 365 with nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Contribute to service development, transformation initiatives and target setting.
