The position is a full-time temporary contract with responsibility for ensuring statutory returns and financial controls are effectively managed across the authority’s accounts and ledgers.

Qualifications

• Experience leading annual accounts closure and statutory reporting.
• Knowledge of CIPFA Codes of Practice and local government accounting standards.
• Experience coordinating audits and liaising with external auditors.
• Ability to oversee treasury, capital, and financial systems controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual accounts closure process and production of the Statement of Accounts.
• Coordinate treasury management, including cash flow and investments.
• Oversee capital accounting, programme monitoring and ledger integrity.
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries and recommendations.
• Coordinate statutory returns and ensure VAT/CIS compliance.
