METLEN Energy & Metals invites an experienced Senior Grid Operations & Delivery Manager to lead UK grid connection projects across Solar PV and BESS. Reporting to the Head of Grid, you will own end-to-end delivery from design through energisation and handover, coordinating with DNOs, TSOs, clients and subcontractors.

The role demands strong leadership across HV/MV/LV installations, civil and electrical construction, and a proven track record in multi-site delivery within renewable energy

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience in ICP or utility construction delivery, preferably in renewable energy connections.
Proven delivery of civil and electrical construction on infrastructure projects.
Strong experience delivering HV installations across 11kV–132kV.
Experience delivering LV/MV/HV connection designs across 11kV–132kV.
Deep understanding of NERS accreditation, CDM Regulations, DNO standards and adoption processes.
Experience leading multi-site construction teams and complex infrastructure projects.
Proven experience managing and developing Project Managers and Site Teams.
Strong technical, construction and operational leadership capability.
Strong understanding of grid infrastructure constraints.
Commercial and contractual awareness for high-value projects.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
Proactive, accountable and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of grid connections across 11kV–132kV, with exposure to 400kV where applicable.
Manage private, contestable and non-contestable works where applicable.
Coordinate design teams and design subcontractors, including submissions to DNOs, TSOs and NESO.
Work with Procurement to ensure timely ordering and delivery of project equipment.
Take overall responsibility for construction delivery, including civil works, substations, HV/LV cabling, switchgear, transformers and protection systems.
Lead project commissioning, testing, protection validation, DNO witness testing, energisation and handover.
Manage PGMD/ONCC submissions to DNOs/NESO.
Lead multidisciplinary site teams including Construction Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, Site Engineers and subcontractors.
Drive coordination and sequencing between civil and electrical works.
Provide operational leadership across Grid PM, Technical & Design and Site Delivery teams.
Ensure effective resource allocation across multiple renewable energy projects.
Build and manage a strong subcontractor network; work with Tender & Contracts Manager on subcontractor selection and approvals.
Collaborate with HSE, Legal and central functions to ensure effective project delivery.
Ensure compliance with DNO standards, NERS accreditation and CDM regulations.
Act as primary operational interface with clients, DNOs/TSOs, subcontractors and local authorities.
Deliver projects in line with programme, budget, design and quality requirements.
Support Tender & Commercial teams with tender submissions and project mobilisation.
Drive operational improvements and implement processes to support efficient delivery.
Support growth and scaling of METLEN's Grid delivery capabilities.
Contribute to strategic planning for transmission connections and wider grid infrastructure.

We are currently looking for anOperations & Delivery Manager – Grid to join our growing Grid team in the UK.

Reporting to the Head of Grid, you will lead the delivery of grid connection projects for utility-scale and renewable energy projects, primarily across Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

You will have end-to-end ownership of Grid Works, from design coordination through construction, commissioning, energisation and handover. The role carries responsibility for both construction and electrical infrastructure delivery, working closely with DNOs, IDNOs, TSOs, NESO, clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced grid and construction professional with strong expertise in HV/MV/LV electrical infrastructure, grid connections and renewable energy project delivery.

Your role will encompass:

Leading the delivery of grid connections across 11kV–132kV, with exposure to 400kV where applicable, primarily for Solar PV and BESS projects.
