Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Graphic Designer to join our client's esteemed 50-year-old family enterprise, a leading supplier of licensed hardline products such as toys, stationery, craft, and carnival items. This dynamic company partners with numerous well-known licensors, providing a diverse and engaging work environment in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

They're looking for someone with strong packaging skills and - ideally - experience with licensing to join their existing team. Prior experience in the toy, health and beauty, and lifestyle space would be an advantage, although not necessary if you have a look and feel in your folio that can be transferred across. They're really looking for a designer to create fun, innovative, and playful packaging concepts for products aimed at the youth and lifestyle market.

About the Role

In this role, you will collaborate closely with multiple teams across the company, reporting directly to the Head of Design and working within a talented team of creatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing innovative graphic designs for licensing projects, creating concepts and executing designs by determining the optimal use of colour, text, font style, imagery, and layout to meet business goals.
  2. Obtain input from managers to ensure designs meet brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the license and client appropriately.
  3. Working independently as well as with creative and product development teams to meet deadlines, balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
  4. Identifying flaws and creating solutions to enhance design capabilities while coordinating workflow to ensure timely completion of all briefs.
  5. Liaising with licensors, suppliers, and team members to ensure projects are approved through all stages of the production process.

About You

  1. An innovative portfolio showcasing your work, ideally within the licensing or cosmetics / health and beauty sectors.
  2. You should have at least five years of professional graphic design experience.
  3. A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or a related discipline.
  4. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.

This is your chance to join an outstanding company where you'll find ample opportunities for advancement and diverse projects to engage with.

This hybrid role is based in Melbourne, and for the six-month probationary period, you will be required to work fully onsite at our client's headquarters in Melbourne's western suburbs.

So if you're passionate about packaging and design, experienced in the licensing field, and ready for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you! To apply, click on the link below and upload your up-to-date CV along with your folio that showcases examples of your work that reflect this opportunity.

Please note that as much as we would like to respond to all applications, only successfully shortlisted applicants will be contacted. This is an onsite requirement so only candidates who are Australian Residents or who have appropriate working rights will be considered.
