Job description

We're building the future of quantum computing here in the UK and we're looking for a Senior Grants and Proposals Manager to help secure additional funds, partnerships and resources from commercial, academic and government bodies; all of which will accelerate our R&D ambitions and growth.

You're an experienced grant or funding proposal writer, almost certainly from an academic, science or deep tech background. You might've worked in a scale-up, R&D team, or a public body but regardless; you know how to turn complex ideas into compelling, fundable business cases.

You'll be joining a driven team to help us build strategic relationships with public funding bodies and industry collaborators, while unlocking new opportunities. You'll play a key part of our commercial team - working with our product and technical teams - to identify, shape, and secure opportunities we need to succeed.

Working with Caro Ehrman (Head of Commercial) and her team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Owning and leading the full grant lifecycle from identifying opportunities to crafting persuasive proposals and securing funding
  • Aligning funding proposals with our existing strategic goals and pipeline of activities
  • Finding and pursuing new public opportunities in whilst staying on top of UK and global funding landscape
  • Building strong, lasting relationships with funders and partners, becoming a trusted representative for us with other industry leaders
  • Translating our technical work into impact-driven narratives that resonate with funders, showcasing the value of what we have to offer
  • Reporting on progress and outcomes, using insights and data to support funding decisions and shape future strategy

Experience in a fast-moving technology sector is essential, given the environment we operate in. If you've worked alongside research, product and engineering teams, even better - it means you'll already have a strong feel for how to navigate a technical scientific setting and translate complex ideas into compelling narratives.

A bachelor's or master's degree in science, engineering, business or a similar discipline is ideal - but if you've proven your capabilities in industry, we're keen to hear from you too. You'll bring razor-sharp attention to detail and a creative mindset to shape proposals that resonate.

This role goes far beyond writing - it's about influencing decisions and building relationships with industry leaders. Strong project management skills are essential, as you'll be leading multiple live proposals, each with its own pace, voice and stakeholders to coordinate.
