Oliver Bernard is hiring a Senior / Lead Golang Engineer for a major global bank in London. You will design and deliver high-performance, production-scale Go services within a highly regulated financial environment.

You’ll own complex projects from architecture to production, set engineering standards, and drive distributed systems with modern CI/CD practices. Generative AI experience is a major plus, with a strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building production systems in Go.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with scalable, resilient backend services.
• Understanding of APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Excellent concurrency, performance and systems design.
• Experience with CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
• Strong testing, observability and production engineering skills.
• Ability to influence technical decisions through clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of high-performance Go services.
• Own technically complex projects from architecture to production.
• Define engineering standards and best practices for Go services.
• Design scalable, highly available distributed systems.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams and other groups.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Build and operate cloud-native apps in a regulated financial environment.
• Contribute to Generative AI strategy and AI-enabled platforms.
• Improve observability, reliability, performance and operational excellence.
