Job summary

Valarian Technologies in London is seeking a senior backend engineer with strong Go experience to design, build, and operate backend services and platform components for our Kubernetes-based Acra platform.

You will own services end-to-end, from system design through deployment, observability, and production operations, while collaborating with product, leadership, and engineering to translate ambiguous requirements into reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Senior backend experience with Go and production services
• Proficient in designing APIs and distributed systems
• Strong focus on reliability, scalability and observability
• Comfort working in a startup environment with ownership

Responsibilities

• Build and own backend services, APIs, microservices, and platform components in Go
• Own services end-to-end from design to deployment and production operations
• Design event-driven, scalable and observable systems
• Improve Docker images, Kubernetes workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and Argo/GitOps workflows
• Work with registries, secrets, and secure deployment processes
• Contribute to platform architecture, security boundaries, and operational models
• Help build platform capabilities like workload isolation and policy enforcement
• Collaborate with product, leadership and engineering to translate ambiguity into solutions
• Make pragmatic trade-offs and clearly explain decisions
• Enhance monitoring, logging, tracing, and incident response
• Raise engineering standards through reviews and documentation
• Operate independently in a startup with strong ownership
