Job Description:

About Port

Port is building the infrastructure for the future of last-mile delivery. We provide electric bikes for rental, used by couriers across London, powered by our proprietary charging station technology and a growing network of urban hubs.

We manage a wide range of components—from bike parts to charging hardware—sourced from global suppliers, along with local vendors. Until now, supply chain operations have been reactive—we’re now hiring our first Global Supply Chain Manager to bring structure, cost-efficiency, and scale to this vital function.

The Role

As Global Supply Chain Manager, you’ll be responsible for designing and running Port’s entire supply chain function, including procurement, purchasing, transport, and logistics. This is a hybrid strategic and operational role—you’ll shape the playbook, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure parts and hardware flow reliably into our warehouses and hubs.

You will own supplier relationships and procurement processes, forecasting, and purchasing cycles, logistics coordination, and inventory management systems. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working cross-functionally with operations, hardware, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Purchasing

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing cycles for e-bikes, charging stations, spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Build a supplier database, lead negotiations, and secure favourable commercial terms.
  • Oversee order placement, tracking, and invoice reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Introduce vendor performance metrics and regular reviews.

2. Process Design & Optimisation

  • Build scalable, documented supply chain and procurement processes.
  • Standardise workflows across high-volume, recurring items and ad hoc sourcing.
  • Drive continuous improvement via process audits and data insights.

3. Forecasting & Demand Planning

  • Forecast part usage and purchasing needs across our hubs and warehouses.
  • Synchronise supplier lead times with projected demand and delivery cycles.
  • Set up procurement calendars, safety stock strategies, and reordering models.

4. Inventory Control Systems

  • Design and implement an inventory tracking solution across our hubs.
  • Define and monitor key Supply Chain KPIs.
  • Enable maintenance teams to track local consumption and restock requests.
  • Coordinate inbound shipments from overseas suppliers.
  • Oversee distribution between our 3PL warehouses and operational hubs.
  • Optimise delivery modes and internal logistics.

5. Cost & Cashflow Impact

  • Reduce excess inventory and urgent shipping costs through better planning.
  • Partner with finance to align procurement with cash flow cycles.
  • Track and report procurement spend, delivery costs, and supplier performance.

You’ll Succeed If You Have:

  • 5–8 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or operations, ideally in hardware, logistics, or mobility.
  • Experience setting up purchasing systems and negotiating vendor terms.
  • Strong command of inventory principles, supplier management, and cost control.
  • Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets, and exposure to WMS, ERP, or lightweight procurement tools.
  • Track record of building from scratch in high-growth, ambiguous environments.
  • A pragmatic mindset: focused on action, not perfection.
  • Bonus: experience managing international logistics, customs, or import cycles.
