Type: Full-Time

We’re working with an award-winning tech consultancy in Manchester to recruit a Senior GIS Consultant who will play a key role in designing and delivering cutting-edge geospatial solutions across public and private sector projects.
Our client delivers some of the UK’s most high-impact #tech4good work — from environmental sustainability to digital democracy — and is now growing their GIS capability to meet rising demand across government and critical infrastructure domains.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with hands-on GIS delivery experience to step into a more senior role in a collaborative, mission-led environment.

About the Company

Our client is a multi-award-winning digital transformation consultancy, known for delivering innovative platforms and services used across civil defence, health, land and asset management, and public sector reform.
They’re also a certified Great Place to Work, offering a genuinely flexible and supportive culture with long-term career development at its core.

Role Overview

As a Senior GIS Consultant, you’ll work closely with technical leads, developers, and client stakeholders to:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable GIS solutions tailored to client and end-user needs

  • Configure, develop, and integrate modern geospatial tools, APIs, and platforms (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoServer)

  • Assist with GIS architecture and infrastructure design for hybrid and cloud environments (AWS, Azure)

  • Automate geospatial workflows using Python or FME, and contribute to CI/CD practices in GIS delivery

  • Help translate business goals into technical delivery plans and contribute to Agile ceremonies and documentation

  • Keep up with trends in Earth Observation, geospatial AI/ML, and location intelligence — bringing these into projects where relevant

️ Key Experience & Skills

  • Strong background in enterprise GIS delivery across a range of geospatial systems and datasets

  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted environments and spatial data management (e.g., PostGIS, GeoJSON, WMS/WFS)

  • Hands-on experience with GIS platforms and toolsets, both open source and proprietary

  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python) to automate spatial data handling or analysis

  • Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams, delivering complex digital services

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience with EO data, geospatial data science or AI/ML

  • Knowledge of DevOps principles (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, etc.)

  • Familiarity with GOV.UK Digital Service Standards or public sector digital frameworks

  • Understanding of data privacy and secure handling of sensitive spatial data (e.g., PII)

Who We're Looking For
You might currently be a GIS Consultant or Senior Analyst ready to take the next step, or a mid-level professional with significant hands-on experience in enterprise GIS delivery looking for more influence and ownership in projects.
Our client values collaboration, curiosity, and initiative — someone who can communicate clearly, work independently, and contribute proactively to high-impact projects.

Benefits & Culture

Our client offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Flexible hybrid/remote working

  • Private healthcare, wellness & mental health support

  • Enhanced parental leave, sabbatical options, and profit share

  • Generous holiday allowance

  • Award-winning internal training and personal development programmes

  • Regular team socials, onsite perks, and a collaborative culture that supports continuous learning
