Job description

Binnies' geotechnical team continues to grow due to ongoing successes in tendering. As we enter the next water regulatory period (AMP8), we will provide geotechnical input for most UK water companies, focusing on storm spill reduction and supporting the development of new reservoirs to safeguard future drinking water supplies.

Our frameworks also include support for the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and the Canals and River Trust.

With this growth, we are offering advanced geotechnical services and taking on complex designs, including temporary works. This presents exciting opportunities for staff to learn new skills and participate in the expansion of our services. Many schemes are design and build, allowing us to see our designs come to life through construction.

These Senior Engineer roles will support junior colleagues and involve a mix of originating and checking designs.

About the Role:

  1. Checking the work of junior staff
  2. Designing diverse geotechnical engineering solutions
  3. Design and supervision of ground investigations
  4. Collating and interpreting ground investigation results
  5. Preparing sections and drawings illustrating geological conditions
  6. Conducting site visits

You should possess and demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:

  • A Masters degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
  • Chartered status with ICE or IoM3 (ideally)
  • A full UK driving license, as site visits are part of the role

You should also have:

  • The ability to work remotely
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with professionals, stakeholders, and contractors
  • A proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Success in designing, planning, and organizing tasks
  • A passion for engineering

If you seek a workplace that empowers growth, values respect and diversity, and promotes work-life balance with flexible arrangements, Binnies is the place for you.
