Senior Geotechnical Engineer sought at an established and successful Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in London.

Overview

Our client is a global engineering consultancy with a growing geotechnical engineering division. They deliver smart, sustainable solutions across sectors including ports and harbours, container terminals, high-risk buildings and general heavy duty infrastructure projects.
They are looking for a talented and knowledgeable Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their UK-based team, contributing to and undertaking the geotechnical design of international port and marine infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will take a proactive role in delivering technically robust and commercially viable geotechnical solutions, in collaboration with clients and teams across multiple countries.
This is a flexible role that will be shaped based on the candidate's background, and includes opportunities to progress and take on technical leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
    Engaging with clients and teams to develop geotechnical design solutions.
    Designing and analysing quay walls, ground improvement, piling, retaining structures, and pavements.
    Preparing GIRs, calculations, and technical specifications for international projects.
    Interpreting ground investigation data across varied geological contexts.
    Coordinating with global multidisciplinary teams for integrated designs.
    Supporting project delivery from feasibility through construction.
    Reviewing third-party and contractor designs.
    Conducting site visits, supervision, surveys, and inspections.
    Mentoring junior engineers.
    Ensuring compliance with quality standards, timelines, and UK/international codes.
Requirements
    BEng/MEng in Civil, Geotechnical, or related engineering discipline.
    5+ years' background with responsibility for design deliverables or leading small teams.
    Proficient in geotechnical design methods (settlement, stability, foundations, piling).
    Familiar with UK and international standards (Eurocode 7, BS 8004, API, DIN).
    Skilled in technical reporting and interpretation of ground investigation data.
    Background in geotechnical software (e.g. PLAXIS, WALLAP, SLOPE/W, LPILE).
    Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills:
    Track-record delivering or supporting projects for international clients or portauthorities.
    Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or actively working towards chartership.
    Track-record with ground improvement methods (e.g. surcharging, wick drains, vibro techniques).
    Numerical modelling or FEM expertise.
    Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively across time zones and cultures.
