Job description

Job Description

Our client is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality designs and technical leadership while supporting both tender and contract phases. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining technical excellence within the team and providing training and support as needed.

You will work on projects involving foundation design for both civil engineering and residential applications, utilising pile and ground improvement methods.

Your role will include overseeing the creation and implementation of safe, efficient, and cost-effective ground engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Produce competitive and reliable designs for piled foundations, ground improvement schemes, and contiguous embedded retaining walls using specialised software (e.g., Wallap, Oasys suite, Plaxis 2D).
  2. Conduct advanced geotechnical analysis, including settlement analysis and soil behaviour modelling.
  3. Manage project design elements, from initial investigation to innovative geotechnical solutions.
  4. Analyse geotechnical data from site investigations to develop tailored, safety-focused design recommendations that meet Eurocode and client requirements.
  5. Lead complex engineering projects independently or as part of a team, including producing detailed design reports.
  6. Engage with clients to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  7. Coordinate with site and operations teams to ensure the accurate execution of designs, including addressing non-conformance reports (NCRs) when necessary.
  8. Mentor junior engineers, support their professional growth, and contribute to R&D within the team.
  9. Improve design tools and procedures, ensuring they align with current standards and industry advancements.
Qualifications:
  1. Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (MSc or Chartered status).
  2. Demonstrable experience in geotechnical design and advanced analysis.
  3. Proficiency with design software and a thorough understanding of Eurocode and British Standards.
  4. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage both technical and operational challenges.

If you are passionate about geotechnical engineering and eager to take on a role that combines technical leadership with practical project involvement, we encourage you to apply.
