Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an Associate Geotechnical Director to lead a diverse portfolio of geotechnical projects in Reading. You will drive technical excellence, client engagement and team growth in a senior leadership role.

The role requires chartered status, strong UK geotechnical consultancy background and a proven track record in delivering complex projects with commercial awareness and leadership capability. Attractive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant UK geotechnical consultancy experience.
• Strong technical knowledge across foundations, earthworks, retaining structures and ground investigation.
• Chartered Engineer status with ICE or a similar professional body.
• Proven experience managing projects and leading technical teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects from feasibility through to delivery.
• Provide senior technical input across ground investigation, foundations, earthworks, slopes and geotechnical design.
• Undertake and review geotechnical assessments, interpret ground investigation data and provide technical recommendations.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and consultants.
• Manage project budgets, programmes and resources.
• Liaise directly with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Support business development, fee proposals and client relationship management.
• Identify opportunities to develop new and existing client relationships.
• Contribute to the strategic development and growth of the geotechnical team.
