Job summary

Nature Geoscience seeks an editor with geophysics expertise who can assess manuscripts, oversee peer review, and contribute to content strategy. Travel to conferences and institutions is expected; editorial experience is welcome but not required.

Successful candidates report to the Chief Editor; roles are available in London, Milan, or Pune, with openness to internal candidates from other offices.

Qualifications

• PhD in geophysics or related field.
• Strong understanding of recent trends in geophysics.
• Breadth of scientific interest beyond own specialty.
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess novelty and implications of research submissions.
• Willingness to travel and meet scientists worldwide.
• Editorial experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manuscript assessment and critical scientific evaluation in editorial process.
• Make well-reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
• Contribute to content and strategy in geophysics.
• Edit content such as Reviews or editorials or commission pieces.
• Collaborate with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
