Job summary

Springer Nature Nature Geoscience seeks an Interim Associate or Senior Editor with a geophysics focus. The role involves manuscript assessment, editorial decision-making, and contributing to content strategy across geosciences.

You will collaborate with editors across Nature Portfolio and engage with scientists worldwide. The position is London/Milano/Pune-based on a fixed-term basis, with opportunities for expansion to senior editorial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in geophysics required.
• Strong understanding of recent trends and developments in geophysics.
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and engage with the international scientific community.
• Editorial experience is desirable or potential for Senior Editor role.

Responsibilities

• Manuscript assessment and critical scientific evaluation with editors.
• Make well-reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
• Contribute to content strategy within geophysics and Nature Geoscience.
• Editorial writing including reviews, editorials, and commissioned content.
• Liaise with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio and with external researchers.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.
