Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Geochemist Consultant to lead environmental geochemistry and hydrogeology projects across the UK. You will oversee site investigations, data interpretation and remediation strategies, working with clients to deliver sustainable solutions while mentoring teams.

Ideal candidates will have chartered status, extensive field experience, and a track record of delivering complex projects from assessment through implementation for public and private sector clients.

Qualifications

• Academic background in geochemical and hydrogeological aspects of geoscience or engineering hydrology.
• Wide range of experience, knowledge and skills in geochemical and hydrogeological aspects of contaminated land assessment and management.
• Strong understanding of contaminated land assessment regulations and guidance.
• Hands-on field investigation experience: site management, drilling supervision, monitoring installation, groundwater/ground gas sampling, remediation supervision.
• Sustained experience in hydrogeological site characterisation and risk assessment; numerical modelling advantageous.
• Experience in geochemical assessments; geochemical modelling advantageous; Chartered with a relevant institution.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental assessments such as PSA, DSA, QRA, DQRA and CSM development.
• Oversee groundwater and surface water monitoring for project analysis and decision-making.
• Design and implement site investigations with clear rationale for geochemical and hydrogeological contexts.
• Develop, optioneer, specify, detail execute and validate remediation projects.
• Provide strategic advice to clients on managing and mitigating water environment impacts.
