Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer

Job Description

An established geotechnical and environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their growing team based in Northamptonshire. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to lead and manage complex ground investigation and environmental assessment projects across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, landfill, infrastructure, and industrial developments. The successful candidate will take a senior role in project delivery, client liaison, and technical oversight. You will support and mentor junior staff, ensure quality standards across project stages, and be actively involved in producing high-quality interpretive reports and remediation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and oversee ground investigations, including scoping, fieldwork supervision, and project delivery.
2. Prepare technical reports such as Phase I & II assessments, CMRAs, earthworks strategies, and remedial method statements.
3. Liaise with clients, regulators, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution and compliance.
4. Mentor and guide graduate and junior engineers, supporting their technical development.
5. Review and interpret geotechnical and environmental data and contribute to commercial decision-making.
6. Travel to sites across the UK as required, including occasional overnight stays.

Job Requirements

1. A minimum of 6 years' experience in geo-environmental or geotechnical engineering.
2. Degree (BSc minimum) in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or a closely related subject.
3. Proven track record in project management, reporting, and team leadership.
4. Strong understanding of contaminated land assessment, remediation, and ground risk interpretation.
5. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
6. Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
7. Confident working independently and within a collaborative team environment.

Salary & Benefits
