Job summary

Wellcome Sanger Institute's Technical Development and Scale-up (TDS) team seeks a Senior Laboratory Automation Specialist on a fixed-term, on-site contract to develop and deliver automation solutions enabling science at scale.

You will lead automated workflows, design methods for liquid handling platforms, evaluate technologies, and collaborate with scientists, software developers and external partners to integrate new systems with LIMS.

Qualifications

Hands-on lab automation experience with liquid handling platforms.
Experience developing and implementing automated workflows.
Ability to evaluate technologies using data and requirements.
Experience integrating automation with LIMS and producing SOPs.
Strong delivery, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Biology background or related practical lab experience.
Experience in cell-based assays, sequencing or related fields.

Responsibilities

Lead automation projects from concept to implementation.
Design methods for automated liquid handling platforms.
Evaluate automation technologies for scientific and operational fit.
Collaborate with scientists, software developers and partners.
Embed automated processes into Scientific Platforms and drive continuous improvement.
Mentor colleagues and promote a culture of innovation.
