Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a fixed-term locum consultant to work on the General Medical wards within its Assessment & Diagnostics service.

The role focuses on managing inpatients, leading daily board and ward rounds, supervising junior doctors, and teaching medical students; a specialty interest can be added by arrangement, with a full general medicine plan preferred.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Experience in General Internal Medicine and ward-based management.
• Experience supervising junior doctors and teaching medical students.
• Experience leading MDT rounds and clinic duties.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients on the General Medical wards.
• Lead daily MDT board rounds and full ward rounds.
• Supervise junior doctors and teach medical students.
• Hold one clinic per week and cover occasional other duties.
• Develop General Medicine service models and pathways.
• Ensure adherence to GMC duties and infection control policies.
