Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking an experienced Senior General Foreperson to lead a highways and earthworks team on a Coventry site. The role is site-based and requires coordinating day-to-day activities, subcontractors and safety compliance to deliver to programme.

You will work with the Site Management team, deputise when required and drive safe, efficient site operations while mentoring junior team members.

Senior General Foreperson - Highways

Location: Binley, Coventry
Start: October
Hours: 7:00am - 5:00pm
Contract Type: Contract
Rate: £300-500 (DOE)
Client: Tier 1 Contractor

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior General Foreperson to join a major highways project in Binley, Coventry working for a leading Tier 1 contractor.

This is a site-based role for an experienced General Foreperson/General Foreman who can confidently lead site teams and subcontractors, coordinate day-to-day activities and help ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

You will work closely with the Site Management team, supporting the delivery of the works and deputising when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate site activities, labour and subcontractors.
• Lead the day-to-day delivery of highways and earthworks activities.
• Ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with the programme.
• Coordinate site resources and ensure teams have the information and resources required.
• Read and understand construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Ensure RAMS, permits, records and site documentation are maintained correctly.
• Monitor progress and report on site activities to the Site Management team.
• Liaise with Site Agents, Engineers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality across the project.
• Identify and manage potential risks, issues and delays on site.
• Ensure works are completed right first time and assist with defect clearance and close-out.
• Lead by example and promote a positive safety and quality culture on site.
• Support and develop site teams, including coaching and mentoring where appropriate.
• Assist with programme monitoring and daily/weekly planning.

About You

We are looking for an experienced General Foreman / General Foreperson / Senior Foreperson with a strong background in highways and earthworks.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a General Foreman, General Foreperson or Senior Foreperson on highways projects.
• Strong experience delivering earthworks and associated civil engineering works.
• Experience supervising site teams and subcontractors.
• Good understanding of construction drawings and technical information.
• Good understanding of site programming and project delivery.
• Strong health and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• SMSTS
• CSCS (Minimum Gold)
• First Aid
• NEC experience/knowledge would be advantageous.
