Job summary

Spencer Rose Ltd is hiring a Data Scientist for a Manchester-based financial services client on a hybrid basis. The contract is 6 months with potential extension up to 2 years, at a rate of 420 per day Inside IR35.

You will translate business problems into scalable AI solutions, develop end-to-end ML models and GenAI apps, and collaborate with data engineers and ML engineers to deploy impact-driven solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in Data Science, ML Engineering or Applied AI.
• Strong Python-based ML and NLP development experience.
• Proven track record of delivering ML and LLM-based solutions.
• Experience designing experiments and evaluating models.
• Knowledge of AI governance and model documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train and optimise Machine Learning, NLP and Generative AI solutions.
• Build end-to-end modelling pipelines from data preparation through to production handover.
• Utilise BigQuery and BigQuery ML for experimentation, analytics and model development.
• Design and evaluate LLM based solutions, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches.
• Define testing frameworks, model evaluation metrics and experimentation strategies.
• Produce model documentation, model cards and governance ready evidence.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, ML Engineers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
