Job summary

Opticore IT is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to deliver and operate GCP foundational services for a large enterprise financial services client. You will work with embedded Google architects to implement the latest architecture and enable the next phase of cloud deployment at scale.

This six-month contract (Inside IR35) requires hands-on experience with Shared VPC, Terraform, GKE, Cloud Run, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• GCP Architect Professional cert is required; hands-on with GCP services.
• Experience delivering IaC-based infrastructure and policies.
• Proficient in building and owning CI/CD pipelines for cloud infra.
• Knowledge of Shared VPC, IAM, networking within GCP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and implement foundational services in GCP landing zones with architecture guidance.
• Design and build Terraform-driven infrastructure across GCP org structure (folders, projects, IAM, networking).
• Build and own CI/CD pipelines delivering infrastructure and policy as code.
• Lead ongoing changes from the GCP architecture review and implement them.
• Manage Shared VPC and VPC Service Controls for secure GCP projects.
• Build and deploy workloads on GKE, Compute, and Cloud Run.
• Collaborate with Network Team on landing zone standards and firewall integration.
• Produce runbooks to transition services to steady-state operations.
• Support deployment of applications and services at pace.

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for Senior Platform Engineer to deliver and operate GCP foundational services and applications for the technology platform at large enterprise financial services client. You'll work alongside embedded Google architects to implement a recent architecture review and enable the next phase of cloud deployment at scale.

This position will be on an initial 6 month contract (Inside IR35), with 1 day per week on site in London.

What you'll be doing:

• Deliver and implement foundational services in GCP landing zones alongside embedded Google architects.

• Design and build Terraform-driven infrastructure across the GCP org hierarchy, including folders, projects, IAM policies, and networking.

• Build and own the CI/CD pipelines that deliver infrastructure and policy as code.

• Own the ongoing implementation of changes identified in the recent GCP architecture review.

• Manage Shared VPC and VPC Service Controls to connect and secure GCP projects.

• Build and deploy workloads across GKE, general compute, and Cloud Run.

• Collaborate with the Network Team on landing zone standards and Palo Alto firewall integration.

• Produce operational runbooks to transition delivered services into steady-state operations.

• Support SNP's next phase of application and service deployment at pace.

• Split time roughly 50/50 between project delivery and operational support.

What youllbring:

• GCP Architecture & Broad Engineering - GCP Architect Professional certified. With hands on experience across Shared VPC, Compute, GKE, and Cloud Run.

• Terraform & Infrastructure as Code - all infrastructure delivered via IaC, covering org hierarchy, folders, projects, IAM policies, and networking.

• CI/CD Pipeline Engineering - All delivery runs through GitHub Actions. Must be able to build and own the pipelines.

• Landing Zone Delivery & Runbook Production - Hands on implementing architecture-review changes, deploying foundational services to the documented reference architecture, and producing runbooks to hand services over to operations
