Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist to deliver high-quality gastroenterology care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including endoscopy and GI bleed on-call duties.

The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, contributing to education, governance and service development, and supervising junior doctors within a dynamic, collaborative environment in Bristol.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of a wide range of gastroenterological conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver outpatient Gastroenterology clinics, ensuring timely assessment, treatment, discharge and follow up of patients.
• Undertake diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including UGI, and support the wider endoscopy service; delivering colonoscopy is desirable.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including IBD, nutrition and hepatology services.
• Support weekly MDT meetings, including IBD and other specialist MDTs.
• Provide clinical leadership and contribute to development and innovation of gastroenterology services and patient pathways.
• Supervise, train and support postgraduate doctors in training; participate in teaching, simulation training and endoscopy education programmes.
• Engage in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development activities.
• Maintain GMC and JAG standards.
