Senior Gastroenterologist: Endoscopy & Service Growth Leader

Job summary

CHEC, based at Ilford Hospital and serving Ilford and the South region, delivers consultant-led gastroenterology outpatient clinics with upper and lower GI endoscopy. The post includes at least two endoscopy lists weekly and occasional travel to CHEC South sites, supporting growth of CHEC's community gastroenterology services.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, contribute to governance, service evaluation and quality improvement, and drive innovative clinical pathways across CHEC sites.

Qualifications

• GMC registration is mandatory.
• Experienced consultant-level gastroenterologist with significant endoscopy experience.
• Strong track record in governance, audit and quality improvement.
• Ability to provide clinical leadership and service development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-led gastroenterology outpatient clinics.
• Assess, diagnose and manage referred patients.
• Carry out diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy.
• Provide at least two endoscopy lists per week.
• Offer expert clinical advice and treatment recommendations.
• Support growth and development of CHEC's community gastroenterology services.
• Contribute to strategic direction with Clinical Director.
• Lead governance, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support implementation of new clinical pathways and service developments.
• Provide clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams.
• Support CHEC sites in the South region as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation in line with GMC standards.
