Job Description:

Our Client is an ambitious, certified, award-winning, B-Corp business offering a genuine alternative to conventional clothing.

We are looking for a Senior Garment Technologist, with a strong interest in circular fashion, sustainability, ethics, and fair trading initiatives to join their team covering a maternity leave. The position starts in July 2024 for approximately 12 months.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days working from home (Monday and Tuesday).

The Role

Leading the Garment Technology team, you’ll collaborate with the Head of Buying, Merchandising, and Design teams to deliver on-brand, impact-positive product ranges.

You’ll represent the Garment Technical team in key seasonal and strategy meetings, so excellent communication skills are essential.

You should have strong knowledge of garment construction across multiple product types and be able to apply this to knitwear, jersey, woven, and seamless garments. Contributing during the design development process to ensure functional garments without compromising on design and style is key.

Experience with different fabrics and fibers, especially developing innovative, nature-based fabrics, is desirable.

Our Client aims to achieve end-of-life solutions for all products by 2030. As Senior Garment Technologist, you’ll work with the product team to meet seasonal targets, using problem-solving skills to find suitable solutions.

A passion for circular fashion is important; training can be provided for the right candidate.

They also prioritize safe and fair working conditions through membership of Fair Wear. The Senior Garment Technologist will lead human rights due diligence within the supply chain, requiring good knowledge and experience working with factories.

Excellent communication with overseas suppliers, providing clear fit comments and handling queries, is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end Garment Tech processes for multiple categories, driving circular innovation and technical development.
  • Support the Garment Tech team in fit sessions and commenting.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to maintain critical timelines.
  • Analyze returns and feedback to improve fit, quality, and customer loyalty.
  • Oversee fabric approval processes and manage on-garment branding and labels.
  • Coordinate with packaging and design teams for accurate labelling and packaging.
  • Drive impact goals related to sustainability, collaborating with partners like CTF and managing fibre and material strategies.
  • Support data collection for impact measurement.
  • Ensure factory audits are up to date, address non-compliances, and mitigate risks related to labour conditions.
  • Manage factory onboarding to align with social impact strategies.
  • Collaborate across departments to communicate product information and support garment-related projects.
