Job summary

Phase Eight, part of The Foschini Group (TFG) London, seeks a Senior Garment Technologist to ensure quality and technical excellence for Ready to Wear Dresses, Jumpsuits, and Event Wear. You will lead weekly fit sessions, manage suppliers ethically, and collaborate with Fabric, Design and Buying teams to drive product quality.

You will guide junior technologists, develop fabrics, and help ensure compliance across the supply chain with a strong focus on accuracy and communication.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of garment construction within Ready to Wear.
• Experience in pattern cutting, grading and testing.
• Leadership and coaching skills to develop junior technologists.

Responsibilities

• Technical expertise: Leading weekly fit sessions and garment construction knowledge.
• Supplier compliance and management: oversee onboarding and ethical practices.
• Fabric development: collaborate with fabric team on development and testing.
• Leadership: coach and develop Assistant Garment Technologist.
• Commercial awareness: conduct store visits and competitor research.
• Distribution centre training: advise on AQL inspection and repair guidelines for woven products.

We are looking for an Senior Garment Technologist to join us here at Phase Eight. As a key member of the team, you will focus on the quality and technical excellence of our Ready to Wear Dresses, Jumpsuits and Event Jumpsuits. By doing so the Senior Garment Technologist will implement and maintaining efficient processes, ensuring our product and supply chain comply with all relevant ethical regulations and standards.

In this role key accountabilities include:

• Technical expertise: Leading weekly fit sessions and demonstrating a deep expertise in garment construction, materials and manufacturing processes
• Supplier compliance and management: Building a strong relationship with suppliers, overseeing onboarding and ethical management practices
• Fabric development: Collaborating with the fabric team on fabric development, evaluation and testing
• Leadership: Coaching and developing the Assistant Garment Technologist on the department, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment
• Commercial awareness: Conduct regular store visits and competitor research to stay informed about market trends and customer preferences
• Distribution Centre training: Sharing expertise and advising colleagues on AQL inspection and repair guidelines, ensuring woven products are accurately reviewed and processed

As the Senior Garment Technologist you'll be someone who brings a strong understanding of garment construction within Ready to Wear, pattern cutting, grading, and testing to a diverse range of event apparel. Your technical expertise in will be crucial to your success, and you'll be known for your sharp attention to detail. You'll also be a confident communicator, effectively building and managing relationships with our Design and Buying teams, as well as our suppliers.
