Job summary

Frontier in Cambridge seeks an experienced Game Writer to join the internal writing team on Elite Dangerous. You will own and deliver high-quality in-game text, collaborating with disciplines to ensure worldbuilding aligns with the creative vision while meeting technical and localisation requirements.

Responsibilities include partnering with the Game Director and Design to shape narrative design, estimate and manage text workloads, and drive style guides and glossaries.

Qualifications

• Experience writing or narrative work in commercial games, ideally AAA.
• Strong copywriting and editorial skills for all game content.
• Excellent communication to align needs across departments and stakeholders.
• Expertise in storytelling and world-building within a visual/interactive medium.
• Enthusiasm for both creative and technical aspects of the role.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Game Director and discipline leads to define and deliver game text and dialogue.
• Collaborate with Design to shape narrative design and player experience.
• Estimate, schedule and manage all text requirements to deliver on time and in budget.
• Promote narrative best practices, creating style guides and glossaries for the project.
• Review content from developers and external writers for in-game use.
• Liaise with Localisation to adapt content for a global audience.
• Support voice casting and recording with required materials and feedback.
