About the team:

The Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) unit delivers services to GBIS Business Units and clients. The IT teams translate ideas into action, combining IT expertise with investment banking understanding. The OPER teams process and control transactions initiated by GBIS business lines.

Within Société Générale CIB, the IT department provides business units with Information Systems. Based in London, you will join the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) Support team, supporting FIC operations in London.

Summary of Key Purposes of the Role:

As a Senior Application Support, you will support market activities primarily for Front Office users in London, Paris, and EMEA, addressing functional and technical issues impacting pricing, electronic market contributions, negotiations, and STP booking, with exposure to risk and P&L considerations.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring operational stability and availability of Forex trading and booking applications.
  • Maintaining relationships with global Forex support teams, helpdesk, IT development, infrastructure, and project teams to ensure business continuity.
  • Communicating with users to provide updates on incidents, requests, and enhancements, tracking their status.
  • Identifying improvements and proposing process transformations for operations and production services.
  • Mentoring and training junior support staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver L1/L2 application support, troubleshoot, resolve incidents, and track user requests with KPI reporting.
  • Monitor production environments for anomalies, perform checks, and proactively address issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 3 support or infrastructure teams, collaborate on enhancements.
  • Maintain knowledge documentation of support activities and procedures.
  • Build strong partnerships with business users and IT peers through clear communication.
  • Provide support during trading hours and holidays via rota, perform on-duty tasks.
  • Participate in Agile sprints, contributing through coding, analysis, testing, and training.

Profile required

  • 8-10 years of application support experience in Forex.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in high-pressure environments.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, team-oriented, with a global 24x5 mindset.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and methods.
  • Familiarity with Forex cash products; knowledge of Rate products or Options is a plus.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in Windows and Unix/Linux OS.
  • Experience with SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle, Sybase).
  • Understanding of trading processes, including FIX, order management, pricing, market making.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident and problem management.
  • Knowledge of observability tools (ELK, Grafana).
  • Object-oriented programming skills (C# .NET, Python) are a plus.
