Job summary

Jobtailor is looking for a senior fullstack engineer to build patient-facing web applications using Next.js, React, and TypeScript. You will own frontend features and the server-side BFF layer, including onboarding, eligibility journeys, subscription checkout, and patient records.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web applications with React and TypeScript, with substantial Next.js experience.
• Genuinely fullstack: backend experience with .NET (C#) as well as Node/TypeScript, REST APIs, and BFF layers.
• Experience with payments and subscriptions using Stripe or similar providers.
• Strong testing habit: unit/e2e testing with Vitest/Jest and Playwright/Cypress.
• Modern CSS and component-driven UI (Tailwind, Radix) with accessibility focus.
• CI/CD pipelines and GitLab workflows; monorepos (pnpm, Turborepo).

Responsibilities

• Build patient-facing features end-to-end across the Next.js frontend and server-side BFF layer.
• Own integrations with Medusa, Stripe subscriptions, HealthHero APIs, questionnaire/triage engine, pharmacy services, and Sanity CMS.
• Lead technical design for multi-tenant, white-label platforms across markets (UK, Ireland, Germany).
• Craft accessible, responsive UI in a shared component library, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Promote engineering quality with tests, reviews, and robust pipelines.
• Improve reliability and performance using monitoring/observability tools.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge through pairing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with product/design/clinical teams to translate healthcare requirements into humane user experiences.

Job description

• Build patient-facing features end-to-end across our Next.js frontend and server-side BFF layer - onboarding and eligibility journeys, subscription checkout, condition management, medication reordering and patient records


• Own integrations with the services behind the app: Medusa commerce, Stripe subscription billing, HealthHero's clinical platform APIs, our questionnaire/triage engine, pharmacy services and Sanity CMS


• Lead the technical design of new services and markets - the platform is multi-tenant and white-label (UK, Ireland, Germany and retail partners), with feature-flagged rollouts and full internationalisation


• Craft accessible, responsive UI in our shared component library (Radix primitives + Tailwind), keeping quality and consistency high across every patient touchpoint


• Champion engineering quality - unit and component tests with Vitest, end-to-end and accessibility tests with Playwright, thoughtful code review and green pipelines in GitLab CI


• Improve reliability, performance and conversion - using Datadog RUM, OpenTelemetry tracing and analytics to find and fix what matters most to patients and the business


• Mentor other engineers and raise the bar through pairing, review and knowledge sharing


• Collaborate closely with product, design and clinical colleagues to turn regulated healthcare requirements into simple, humane user experiences

Requirements

• 5+ years building production web applications, with deep expertise in React and TypeScript and substantial Next.js experience (App Router, server components and server actions ideally).


• Genuinely fullstack: backend experience with .NET (C#) as well as Node/TypeScript - designing and consuming REST APIs, building backend-for-frontend layers, and working with authentication flows (OAuth/OIDC) and session management.


• Experience with payments and subscriptions - Stripe or a comparable provider - including checkout, billing lifecycle and failure handling.


• A strong testing habit: unit/component testing (Vitest or Jest + Testing Library) and end-to-end testing (Playwright or Cypress).


• Modern CSS and component-driven UI development (Tailwind, Radix/shadcn or similar), with a real commitment to accessibility.


• Fluency with CI/CD pipelines and collaborative Git workflows (we use GitLab), and monorepo tooling (pnpm workspaces, Turborepo).
